Pharmacy First Evaluation

We were asked us to create an animation explaining an independent evaluation of Pharmacy First’s impact and effectiveness by The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. This 2024 initiative allows people to access healthcare directly from local pharmacies, aiming to reduce the strain on GP services.

The animation explains the Pharmacy First evaluation process and illustrates some of the crucial issues of care equity that need to remain central to the evaluation, such as language barriers, limited privacy, access to same-gender pharmacists, and pharmacy closures are visually represented. Collage-style illustrations and photographs show pharmacists helping diverse patients, addressing healthcare demand, and promoting timely care. The animated video emphasises community feedback to improve service inclusivity and accessibility, ending with a hopeful view of Pharmacy First as a valuable addition to healthcare.

Public contributors co-wrote the script and offered guidance on the images used in the animation. The featured characters were carefully profiled and designed to reflect the diverse nature of the people who participated in the evaluation.
