Our Story

We’ve been creating interactive digital content and telling animated stories since 1998

Dorling Kindersley CD-ROMs created 1995-1998

How it started

Our original team met in 1995 at the British multinational publishing company, Dorling Kindersley Multimedia. Here we designed educational CD-Roms using Macromedia Director – cutting edge software, at the time.

So when the internet exploded in 1998 this experience paved the way for us to create rich and varied digital content for other clients.

BBC Science Clips push and pull game

Making learning fun

By 2001 we had already animated the Tweenies – a popular live-action children’s TV series – in 3D and created content for the early Channel 5 website.

After developing KS2 maths football-themed games for footee.net, came the multi-award-winning BBC Science Clips in 2003, followed by Maths and English Bitesize. We were at the forefront of the first games and activities for this hugely popular BBC website that’s still going strong today.

BBC Help Plus 3D environment with live action people

Immersive, interactive 3D worlds

In 2007 when BBC launched iPlayer, we developed BBC Help Plus, an interactive guide to broadband which also introduced the public to the new platform.

From here, our journey took us to work with award-winning creative consultancy, Radley Yeldar where we developed an interactive 3D world designed to share information on Pearson’s global businesses.

Both were built using Flash and 3D Studio Max.

Cbeebies Tommy Zoom flying

Animated TV series

After winning a competitive pitch to create four online animations for Cbeebies, the popular children’s Tommy Zoom project quickly grew to become a successful 30 episode series that combined live-action with animation.

As well as conceptualising the characters and worlds, we developed the storyboards and animatics, created the bespoke animations and managed the post-production processes.

Health education

Since producing Medical Aid Film’s first project in 2008, we continue to work with the team to create engaging, accessible and multilingual films and digital content that support the health and wellbeing of women and children around the world.

Working with expert professionals, we’ve developed films on subjects including disease outbreaks, Malaria and COVID-19 for the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
